These are all reasons I have seen be present for seeing a PT for your pregnancy! Preventatively or for pain…we can get you moving better and stay moving throughout your new chapter!

1. Modify Gym Exercises Safely

Staying active during pregnancy is important, but it’s crucial to do so safely. We can guide you in modifying your exercise routine to ensure it’s suitable for your changing body and your baby’s health. We know that regular exercise can reduce high blood pressure, depression, diabetes and several other issues!

2. Reduce Fears and Myths

Pregnancy posts often brings about many fears and myths. Can you lift heavy? Can you lay on your back? Can you do ab workouts? Can you run? YES by the way - we can provide valuable education, debunking misconceptions and addressing concerns, empowering you with knowledge and confidence that are specific to you. A lot of it depends on HOW now WHAT you are doing.

3. Keep Sacrum Mobile

A mobile sacrum is essential for childbirth, as it allows your pelvis to open up during labor. Physical therapy techniques and specific mobility exerises can help maintain the mobility of your sacrum, ensuring a smoother birthing process.

4. Keep the Pelvis Moving

A mobile pelvis is essential for comfort during pregnancy and efficient labor. If one side it too tight - the other side often is hypermobile to accomodate and this can create Pelvic Girdle Dysfunction aka “lightening crotch” or Pubic Symphysis Dysfunction. Physical therapy can provide exercises and techniques to keep your pelvis mobile, alleviate discomfort and balance the body.

5. Keep Your Hips Happy!

Hip pain/glute tension is common during pregnancy due to hormonal changes, increased pressure and change of body posturing to create a better center of gravity to balance. Physical therapy can offer relief through exercises and techniques that target hip discomfort.
